Please allow a couple of weeks between the arrival of your house and the arrival of your chooks - This gives you a time buffer for any unforeseen hold-ups, and time to ready the house before the girls move in! All materials used will not rot or rust, but Brett does recommend painting, oiling, or staining the housing to keep it maintained.
